Job description
Edgewood Gardens and Design is looking to hire contract gardeners to install, maintain, and reclaim garden beds on a variety of properties in the Charlottesville area. Edgewood is offering temporary work with flexible scheduling through Winter. We are looking for people who have previous experience in gardening. Experience/Skills:
-
Experience in gardening, plant care, and/or garden maintenance is required.

Familiarity with native plant life and natural garden care is preferred, but not required.

A high school degree or GED
-
A love of the outdoors and plant life

The ability to stand for long periods of time

The ability to lift heavy objects
Responsibilities of Position:
-
Tools: Workers are required to bring their own general gardening tools and protective gear. Specifics will be discussed in the interview.

General tools include, but are not limited to: weeding tools, pruning shears, gloves, eye protection, shovel, etc.

Pruning, cutting back, and trimming plants, shrubs, and trees.

Lifting heavy bags of: mulch, soil, fertilizer, gravel & compost.

Shoveling soil, edging beds, and carrying debris to discard piles on properties or off properties.

Pitch mulch, carry mulch buckets and wheelbarrows, and spread mulch in gardens.

This job will require standing, enduring moderate exercise, and lifting up to 50lbs, with work days lasting from 4 to 8 hours.

You are responsible for your transportation and carrying of equipment to and from each job site.

Gardeners are hired as sub-contract workers under Edgewood Gardens and Design LLC. They are paid an hourly rate per job.
